The L & B opened in 1898 and ran for the most part unprofitably until its closure in 1935. Unlike many of its contemporaries in Wales the line was built on a rather grand scale. The rolling stock was fairly massive by comparison and the three kits available from Nine Lines represent some of the larger eight wheel stock. Commercial success always eluded the line under both the original management and later the Southern Railway which closed the line completely, shortly after introducing many improvements.

L & B kits are only available in 9mm gauge.      Vacuum pipes are NOT included in the kits.

NEW! Also available, are lead weights to fit beneath (or inside) L&B wagons & vans. These weigh 11g, flat and can be attached beneath NL1, 5 and 10 without being visible. You can, of course locate them inside. On NL25 the weight needs to be fitted inside the van. The weights are priced at 50p and can only be purchased with an L&B kit (including bogies and chassis).

NL 5 is modelled on the original rolling stock of the L & B. These wagons were numbered 12 & 13 and proved to be extremely popular and a number of varients were produced in later years. The wagons underwent some modifications during their lifetime and it is in their final form, with small side hung doors, that the wagons are reproduced.
